Call of Duty: Black Ops 7, Persona 4 Revival, Grounded 2 and More: Everything Announced at Xbox Games Showcase

Xbox Games Showcase, broadcast on Sunday, came packed with reveals, announcements and updates on upcoming games. The event premiered some first-party Microsoft titles and a few surprising third-party games. The showcase took the covers off the next Call of Duty and introduced the Xbox branded handheld Asus ROG Ally handhelds. Other first-party games revealed at the event included Grounded 2, Clockwork Revolution, and Keeper. Already announced titles like The Outer Worlds 2 and Gears of War: Reloaded received new trailers, as well.

Among third-party announcements, Atlus finally revealed a long-rumoured remake for Persona 4, while Don’t Nod revealed their next game, a sci-fi adventure titled Aphelion. In a surprising announcement, Pokémon developer Game Freak revealed a new game named Beast of Reincarnation. Asobo Studio, on the other hand, announced a new game set in the world of A Plague Tale, set 15 years before the events of A Plague Tale: Requiem. Here are the biggest announcements from the Xbox Games Showcase:

Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 Announced

Treyarch and Raven Software are bringing back-to-back Black Ops games for the first time. After last year’s Black Ops 6, Microsoft showed a teaser for Black Ops 7 at Xbox Games Showcase. The game is set in 2035 and brings back David Mason from Black Ops 2 as protagonist.

“The year is 2035 and the world is on the brink of chaos, ravaged by conflict and psychological warfare following the narrative events of Black Ops 2 and Black Ops 6,” the Xbox Wire post about the announcement reads. “With cutting-edge technology in hand, the Black Ops team led by David Mason must fight back against a manipulative enemy who weaponizes fear above all else.”

Black Ops 7 will feature a co-op campaign and trademark multiplayer and zombie modes. The game will be fully revealed this summer.

Grounded 2 Announced

In addition to the direct presentation dedicated to The Outer Worlds 2, Obsidian Entertianment also revealed Grounded 2, a sequel to 2022’s Grounded. The game is set in 1992, two years after the events of the first one, at Brookhollow Park . The starting zone of the new setting is as big in scale as the entire backyard map from the first game. Obsidian is collaborating with Eidos Montreal on the title.

The teenagers from the first game, now a little older, return in Grounded 2. The game promises a larger and more diverse world, new combat mechanics, new bugs and more. Grounded 2 will be available in Game Preview for Xbox Series S/X, Xbox on PC and Xbox Cloud, and in Early Access on Steam on July 29, 2025. It will land on Xbox Game Pass day one, as well.

Keeper Announced

Keeper, another first-party game from Psychonauts 2 developer Double Fine Productions, was announced at Xbox Games Showcase. It’s a third-person adventure where players take on the role of a walking lighthouse exploring a vibrant world. Players can use their beam of light to change the environment around them. They’ll be accompanied in their adventure by a seabird that helps solve puzzles.

The trailer for the game showed the colourful, psychedelic world of the game — an island with a growing malevolent presence. As the lighthouse, players will journey towards the centre of the island. Keeper will release across Xbox Series S/X and PC on October 17. It will be available on Game Pass day one.

Beast of Reincarnation Announced

Pokémon developer Game Freak announced a new game, Beast of Reincarnation, with a trailer at Xbox Game Showcase. The action-RPG is set in a post-apocalyptic Japan teeming with beasts in the wild. You play as Emma, a cursed outcast, who takes on the beasts along with her dog Koo.

The trailer showed off gigantic beasts and action-combat reminiscent of the Soulslike genre. Beasts of Reincarnation will arrive next year on PC (via Steam and Xbox app), PS5 and Xbox Series S/X. It will also be available day one on Game Pass.

Persona 4 Revival Announced

Days after multiple voice actors confirmed a Persona 4 remake was in development, Atlus confirmed Persona 4 Revival at Xbox Games Showcase. The remake comes with updated visuals and several other improvements. In the remake, players will return to high school in Inaba, a rural Japanese town where a string of murders have left the people shaken.

As a new transfer student, you’ll take on the challenges of school life and adolescence, while you uncover the truth behind the serial murders. Persona 4 Revival will launch on PC, Xbox Series S/X and PS5, and will be available on Game Pass day one. It can now be wishlished across supported platforms.

Resonance: A Plague Tale Legacy

Asobo Studios returns with Resonance: A Plague Tale Legacy, the third game in the acclaimed A Plague Tale series. The new game will serve as an origin story set 15 years before the events of A Plague Tale: Requiem. The developers are promising a new action-adventure approach with the new protagonist, Sophia, who journeys to Minotaur’s Island to understand the origins of the Macula curse.

She will carry a sword in one hand and light in the other, suggesting there’ll be changes to the combat. Resonance: A Plague Tale Legacy will launch on PC, PS5 and Xbox Series S/X in 2026 and will be available on Game Pass day one.
